Project Overview:

Located in sunny Eastern Washington state, the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) is nestled between the beautiful Columbia and Yakima Rivers on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. The WTP Project will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which are byproducts of plutonium production processing during World War II and the Cold War era.

The WTP Project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technologically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres with four major nuclear treatment facilities; Pretreatment (PTF), Low-Activity Waste (LAW) Vitrification, High-Level Waste (HLW) Vitrification and the Analytical Laboratory (Lab).

The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is subcontracted to the WTP Prime Contractor (BNI) to complete construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.

This position is located at the WTP Site, approximately 22 miles north of Richland, WA and works a 4x10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Although unlikely, on occasion the FPE may be required to work off shift to support the WTP Project during emergent conditions.
