Job Description

Specific Responsibilities

The Aviation Mechanic Technician II or Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Aviation team at the company’s Houston, Texas hanger at IAH reporting to the Aviation Mechanic Supervisor. The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for completing advanced level maintenance, inspection, diagnostic and repairs of company operated aircraft. 

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
  • Perform inspection, diagnostic, and repair work on company operated aircraft. Involves devising work practices and procedures to validate set standards of performance
  • Review and approve aircraft maintenance log entries, reports, and other records of work performed. Ability to interpret and apply MEL.
  • Provide assistance to other company Aviation Department Maintenance Technicians 
  • Oversee maintenance checks and inspections conducted at Approved Maintenance Organizations (AMO's)
  • Remove from service any company aircraft that are unsafe or do not comply with national regulatory requirements
  • Actively participate in the department Safety Management System (SMS). Contribute to the program on a regular basis and offer assistance and/or ideas to enhance the program
  • Assist with the dispatch and receiving of Aviation Department and visiting aircraft, to include: assisting passengers to and from aircraft, baggage loading and unloading, fueling operations, and assisting flight crews to provide a safe and efficient ground operation.
  • Must be willing to work unusual and flexible shifts to meet flight schedule and maintenance requirements. Note: majority of schedule is the standard company published work week.
  • Ability to travel for training and vendor maintenance visits required. Averaging 20 to 30 days per year.
  • Peripheral duties may be assigned by the Maintenance Technician Supervisor as required

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Graduate of a FAR part 147 training program or well documented training path per FAR
  • Degree preferred
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the maintenance and control systems for company operated aircraft
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the national regulations and standards relating to aircraft maintenance
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and oversee maintenance activity events
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has gained an advance level of knowledge through years of experience and continuous education. Always learning and is willing to share their knowledge and experience with others. 
  • Minimum five to seven years working as an aircraft technician with a minimum of three years in a corporate aviation environment. 
  • Prior experience working on Gulfstream aircraft (or the current manufacturer of company operated aircraft)
  • Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and aircraft system specifications 
  • Avionics experience preferred but not required. Basic electrical required. Must be willing and able to train in avionics. IE: Flight Safety, AET training, in house training, seminars, etc.
  • Experience utilizing aircraft unique tooling (maintenance stands, borescope devices, hydraulic test equipment, pressurization test equipment, etc.)
  • Familiar with Title 14 of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 43,65,91, and 145 sections
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulatory compliance 
  • Completion of several initial and recurrent aircraft maintenance specific training programs designed specifically for corporate flight department operations. 
  • Must have own tools sufficient to complete all basic tasks. Specialized tooling provided.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant License required
  • Inspection Authorization and/or AET certification preferred
  • Military encouraged to apply
  • Ability to obtain valid passport allowing for entry and exit of destinations where company flies.
