Description Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced team player to join our Magnolia Public Schools team as the Family-Centered Mental Health Programs - Assistant. This position plays a pivotal role in the clerical duties, monitoring and storing of HIPPA and FERPA information and Student Information System used to capture the progress of the Family Centered Treatment programs at MPS. This is a requirement of the Child and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) and Family-Centered Mental Health Programs within Magnolia Public Schools. This position is critical to ensuring the success and well-being of students, families, and staff by promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment that addresses the diverse mental health needs of the school community.
This individual will work closely with the Chief Academic Officer, Special Programs Coordinator and school site administrators. The Family Centered Mental Health Programs Coordinator will be a key driver in the program administrative duties and connecting students and families to services provided by the Family Centered Treatment (FCT) model. Their expertise and dedication to mental health initiatives will be integral to fulfilling MPS' mission of providing transformative education and support to historically underinvested communities.
Responsibilities: Support with the Implementation of the strategic plan for mental health and behavioral services in alignment with the FCT model's goals and objectives. Collaborate with school leaders, administrators, and the Special Programs Coordinator to ensure comprehensive and evidence-based practices are integrated into the model.
- Support the FCT Team in providing mental health and behavioral support programs and services that cater to the unique needs of students and families. These programs may include counseling services, trauma-informed care, behavior intervention strategies, and crisis response protocols.
- Staff Training and Support: Assist in organizing training and professional development opportunities for school staff to enhance their understanding and skills in addressing mental health and behavioral challenges. Coordinate support for educators in adopting trauma-sensitive practices and creating a positive and nurturing school climate.
- Partnerships and Collaboration: Communicate with FCT, mental health agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance the availability and
accessibility of mental health services. Collaborate with external partners to ensure seamless service delivery and coordinated support.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Implement data-driven approaches to assess the impact of mental health and behavioral interventions on student outcomes. Help with the requirements of grant outcomes, benchmarks and reports.
- Policy and Compliance: Stay informed about local, state, and federal policies related to mental health services in educational settings.
Qualifications Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Commensurate work experience in community development, education, social/human service, public school system, and/or volunteer work field may substitute for education requirements.
- Experience: Experience in working within the school environment. Ability to exercise discretion and independent professional judgment and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines while managing multiple tasks
- Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge educational best practices, and social service systems. Familiarity with the needs of underserved communities and experience addressing systemic inequities. Broad understanding of Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) including positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS). Broad understanding of the cradle-to-college-and-career models
- Communication Skills: Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings, and build partnerships. Multi-lingual speaker specifically in Spanish and English, strongly preferred
- Program Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to support multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines within budget constraints. Strong computer skills and complete knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Flexibility: Adaptability and openness to change in a dynamic environment, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound judgments. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (some weekends, some evenings required)
- Passion and Commitment: Deep commitment to the mission of community schools, social justice, and educational equity.ting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to drive program results, strongly preferred
- Must pass a criminal background check (Livescan fingerprinting), with both the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), prior to beginning employment.
- Must present proof of negative Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) prior to beginning employment dated within 60 days.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between work sites. If applicable, will be required to provide proof of current California driver's license, acceptable driving record (current DMV H6 printout), and current liability auto insurance.
